One. Microsoft ToDo
We started experimenting with this app in December and totally see the potential benefits! This app can help us digitize our task lists, assign team members, and set deadlines. The ability of each team member to have this app on his or her phone helps to keep everyone on the same page. Need to add a task? It’s easy! Just share the list with every team member and let the project coordination begin!
Two. Canva
Yes, we are designers. Yes, we know how to use Adobe Creative Suite to create custom graphics. No, we are not paid to do that… Hahahah! Canva seems like an easy way to get higher-quality social media posts on our Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest pages with easy-to-use templates! New year, new reels here we come!
Three. Unsplash
We typically post a lot of pictures of our projects on our social media feeds, we are in the business of architecture after all, but sometimes we write about things and don’t have a photo of our own… enter Unsplash! High-quality images of concepts we are talking about… anything from building a gingerbread house to tossing caps in the air at graduation. The possibilities are endless!
Four. Autocad for Ipad
We have a love-hate relationship with as-builts… Maybe having the ability to actually create the base AutoCAD file in the field will help change that hate part and increase our efficiency when we get back to the office… Maybe it will even help us not miss critical dimensions. You know, those dimensions that you are like, “Yeah, I got everything we need”… only to find out you are counting bricks in a photo to determine a measurement when you are back in the office…
Five. Morpholio Trace
We think and communicate through drawing. Having the ability to sketch concepts or construction field solutions digitally will probably help expedite our design process and our response time. Will we compeletly eliminate the need for trace paper… probably not, but having another tool in our toolbox is always a PLUS!
