The Text Evolution: Email Edition

Have you ever had a “conversation” with someone via email that just isn’t getting your point? Well, same. There are different ways to show your progression of intense caring emotion, some would call the person to explain over the phone, some would forward to a co-worker to handle, and some would evolve their text style to get their point across. Let’s see what that would look like, and of course this is not based on an actual event… just inspired from them.

Scene:

You are listening to a 90’s Pop playlist singing, dancing and getting your work done. Then you receive an email about something you are almost certain you covered, you respond in Level-1.

β€œ Hello [insert recipient here whoever that may be],

Thank you for checking. Maybe I missed that, let me confirm.”

You were right and you confirmed that you in fact did not miss that. You receive a follow-up email from recipient about the same thing.. we have now entered Level-2.

β€œHi,

I think you have missed it previously but if you see below you can see that I already covered this.”

They reply misspelling your name and still accusing you of not completing what you now know 100% you did. You pause the upbeat playlist because now you are focused and need to reply with a clear mind, this is Level-3.

β€œ[recipient’s name]

Again, SEE BELOW where it shows you the exact items you are referring to. I have also attached a screenshot of what I am talking about.”

They did not see below, in fact we aren’t even sure if they have eyes at this point since they email yet again asking for the same damn thing. We have reached Level-4 and the recipient should be very very afraid.

(no name at this point)

β€œI DO NOT UNDERSTAND YOUR CONFUSION, IS THERE SOMEONE ELSE I CAN SPEAK WITH SO WE CAN GET THIS MOVING FORWARD?”

Playlist turns back on and you add some desk dance moves to dance some of the stress away. After a few flawless moves, an internal email to your work bestie is sent giving your professional opinion of the situation and forwarding this chain of text to fully express how you are feeling. That email example can not be shared because HR said so.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd Scene!
