The HAYNE Way: Family “Go-To” Parameters

Hello friends!

Thanks for joining us today. We are still waiting for the infinite library of components to be generated for us to use but until then we are creating new components to use in our model. With that we noticed there are a couple of parameters we always start with. We thought we would share these “Go-To” parameters with you so continue below and see how we setup our family file!

First. Picking what category belongs to, is it furniture or a plumbing fixture? (You’d be surprised how many “generic model” components we download!)
Second. Set up reference planes. reference planes are your friend! They are helpful to align to when brought into the model.
Third. Overall Dimensions, we LOVE components to be editable.
Fourth. Adding material parameter so it reads correctly in renders or views.
Fifth. Visibility. Controlling if the different parts of the component are visible or not.
The different elements in the Family are associated to a parameter.
Optional: The flip function. This doesn’t always apply but is a helpful tool to quickly adjust the component when in the model.

Each component is different and sometimes needs more or different parameters but these are the basic ones we like to start with that makes it helpful and easier to use inside our model. Let us know what your “Go-To” family parameters are!
