Project Spotlight: Reynolds Court Outdoor Living

The Existing Condition.

Let’s check in on the design for our Outdoor Living areas at Reynolds Court! See what we are working with… Hmmmm, some of those hedges aren’t too bad…

The Inspiration.

The trellis area inspiration comes from Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s design for Ellen Pompeo featured in Architectural Digest.

Pool inspiration comes from Modern Comfort Pools. We want to create a kid-friendly Baja entry shelf and a stepped waterfall feature with a built-in spa for the adults. The surrounding pool deck provides space for sunbathing and eating.

Our client truly has a green thumb and wants a series of raised beds to grow some fruits and vegetables (my brown thumb is sooooo jealous!) A great inspiration photo comes from Magnolia Home’s Joanna Gaines own garden. #gardengoals.

Our Proposed Scheme.

Design scope includes a new pool, new outdoor kitchen and dining area, new garden area, chicken coop and duck pond.

After a few layout options, Matt in our office completed a clean and colorful site plan. We are planning on maintaining the main central hedges to create a spatial break in the backyard. On one side we will have the pool, pool deck, and lawn area. On the other side will be the raised garden beds, chicken coop, duck pond, and a more secluded outdoor lounge space with the existing fireplace being relocated. The central feature will be a covered dining area flanked by water features (reuse the Buddha??) and an outdoor kitchen.

This site section helps to show the relationship between the primary elements of the future backyard.

Now, our interior remodel is currently in process, but can I just say I can’t wait to get this backyard oasis started!!
