Design in the Details: Switching & Outlets

the standard: Leviton Decora (screwless)

This is an excellent standard that we specify on many of our projects. It is simple and clean and comes in various colors so we can match adjacent wall finishes (although our most specified color is white…) to help camouflage the outlets and switches.

You can also have the option to use their “smart” switches and control your lighting from your phone!

the Hidden: Legrande Adorne

Sometimes you have outlets in odd spaces, particularly when we are working on remodel projects, and having a “hidden” outlet helps to visually clean up a space. This pop-out outlet gives you the option to plug in or hide when not in use.

The square design and fun wall plates are also a great way to modernize traditional switches and outlets.

the control freak: Lutron

Who doesn’t want a smart home these days?? Lutron switches offer the ability to program your lighting for specific scenarios… Are you throwing a party? Are you out for the night? Are you just coming home from work?

We typically use seeTouch option and have that in our Hayne Cottage Office, but we also love the simplicity of the Alisse option!

the flush: Trufig

The Trufig outlet is an Architect’s dream with a fully flush system, but this specification requires thought and coordination in the design process as it comes with a special mounting system! It is definitely something that needs to be addressed at the beginning of the construction process and not at the tail end…

Trufig also has a solution for those required code outlets that you may just not want to see in the finished space…

Trufig fascias (wall plates) are also paintable, meaning they can match any adjacent wall surface.

the decorative: DeVol

We absolutely love these DeVol switches and outlets for our more traditional projects (like our Claremont House project). The toggle and dimmer switches are great decorative elements to add to the walls and the metal finishes are great! LOVING the aged brass!
